CHECK IT OUT: A More Efficient Templating System
Until the release of VB3, which is suppose to have a better template system, the current Vbulletin needs to have better and faster way of creating/modifying/comparing templates.
Need some figures to understand what I'm talking about? Check out the attachments in the next few posts, and I'm sure after seeing them you'll have to agree with me. (It would also make me sound like a fool if something like this has already been done, if so please direct me to the correct thread, thnx ) |

I'm basically paving way for an excellent hack here, which I'm sure everybody would praise. If I was really good at html and hacking, I'd do it myself, but...i'm not
Anyway, I hope somebody can take alook at my request and make this thing for real ^_^ |

Man, this would be so much faster for installing hacks! Imagine installing 3 at a time because they are all on the same page, I'm drooling

I'm not sure you could install three at a time...but you sure could create templates much faster for hacks that have tons of templates *points at store hack*
Also I find I need to compare templates many times also, and make changes from one template to another, thats where this would come in handy. Overall it would make installing hacks more satisfying. *ponders at its difficulty to develop* I could probably do frames easily, but its the other parts of the hack that I'm not sure about... |

Well for about the past 3 or 4 hours I've been working on this hack myself, and I'm (finally) making good progress! Attached is a real shot from what it looks like so far.
I have some questions regarding frames for anybody who would like to help: 1. How can I close a frame after I am doing using it. For example, after a user creates a template and hits ok, it loads the pages after it in that frame, instead I would like the main page frame to reload and the "right frame" to close. Any ideas? 2. How can I get a frame to open only when I call it. For example, I don't want to load the page with the frame already existing, only when I select "add template". If anybody could help me with those 2 questions I'd greatly appreciate it, if not then its ok too cause I'll learn ^_^ Now I need some sleepppp.... |
