Default Some help with skinning.

First question. I am workiong on my new vBulletin site and I am having some issue. To tell you the truth this is my first time skinning a vBulletin 4.2 it was quite easy back in the 3.8 days. but there is my issue. I have set the

.doc_margin to 0 but I want to put the white block with all the content centered in the theme but have padding on the left and right. I can't find out where to find this

Also how do you add custom CSS.

To center your skin you have to go to the variable editor and do the following:
doc_margin: top 0, right auto, bottom 0, left auto.
doc_maxwidth: set the width of your skin here.

Custom CSS can be added to the additional.css template.

Maybe this will help What I am trying to do is make the header (with the navigation and all that) Fluid but keep the content fixed.

In that case, I'm pretty sure you must define a width.

Something you can do:
.doc_header and .navbar:
width: 1300px;
margin: 0px auto;

Alternatively, you can give .above_body the above properties.

You can do this is the additional.css CSS template.

I was confused with this also when I started skinning vB4.

The CSS you change is in the templates list under CCS Templates. The additional.css is here too, make sure you change it here and not manually because you will lose your changes after updates and such.

I find the easiest way to skin is to use your browser's Developer Panel (usually F12 or right click) copy the class or html you want to change and search it within the templates.

How come you can't search for CSS by class or id. Lets take for example. body_wrapper or globalsearch via the search stiylevars

You can search for it, in the templates, and then find out what stylevar is being used.
