Bleh, Avatars!
Why does vBulletin give you two options for avatars (upload directly, and upload via an alredy uploaded avatar), but they both upload the avatars to your webserver! I dont undstand what the point in having website uploads is. This option should let you link avatars offsite.
Now I'm forced to disable avatars because of my very limited bandwidth and webspace. >.< |

well...there is an hack out there that let's you make your member link the avatar, so if you don't want them uploading it, just delete to codes for them to upload it and put in the code for linking them

There is to much code, I tried but messed it up. >.<
I can make simple things, but not the more complecated stuff. |

I would think linking to an external image for an avatar could cause a potential mess. What would happen if the site containing the avatar went down? Or changed its filesystem structure rendering the link broken?
If the user had thousands of posts, you'd have a mess of broken images on your hands. :-) If you limit the size of your avatars (I limit mine to 3KB), bandwidth and disk space aren't really that much of a concern anymore. |

If you just use linked avatars, what's to stop users from changing the image after setting the link?
