Did you check their usergroup permissions?

Oh, my goodness! All new users are automatically banned!

Either someone on your board did that, or is a result of a mod.

Looks like a lot of new users are being put in to the wrong usergroup after registering. Weird!

By default they go into usergroup #2 unless you have a mod doing something different to them.

Shouldn't be a mod. I've just disabled quite a few. Is it possible tht disabling a mod was the issue?

If there was a mod that did something to the users during registration, disabling it, or uninstalling it should not have any affect on newly registered accounts.

That's what I thought. But the new account I just registered went in as an administrator. I made another, and it went in under a different usergroup. That hasn't happened until recently.
