Core i7 930 VS Dual Xeon E5-2609
We're planning to upgrade our dedicated hosting plan. The rest of the specs seems to be superior than our current plan.
Im not sure about the CPU though. Which is better, an intel core i7 930 or dual intel xeon e5-2609? Is there a significant difference between the 2 processors in terms of overall performance? |

Technically the 930 is a Desktop based CPU, but it still out classes the 2609 in a few departments.

maybe so but with server mobo's you can have more than 2 xeons installed and they also support more memory to be installed as well.

Here's a good server motherboard if you're interested in getting one.

I think you missed the part where the OP was asking about a single I7 vs DUAL xeons.

No way is a single I7 going to beat 2 xeons. |

Isnt Intel expected to come out with a new processor for servers in a few months?

If so it's probably just another xeon model.
