So a captcha type field for posting new threads?
Is this just per forum or for the whole site?

this is for the whole site, against spammers etc

There's a mod like that here somewhere. i.e., solve a captcha to post a new thread. But if you're blocking bot registrations in the first place it's kind of useless.
