Hacking my board?
I've noticed sevral times today when my forums have about 15 guests (unusual), plus the IPs for all of them are 216.239.46.* where * is any given number. When I view who's online each of these guests is viewing a member profile. Is this indicative of somebody trying to hack vb?
If so, how can I go about banning that range of IPs? ps. I've to upgrade to 2.2.3... planning to do it this weekend, hopefully. |

Sounds suspicous ...
You can go into the admin panel and theres a link for banning options, just enter the ip address minus the * and that should ban those users.... alternately you can temp turn off guest viewing privledges for the board. |

Minus the .*, okay, thanks. Yes, it seems extremely suspicious to me, aswell

This was also happening on my forums the day before yesterday. It was the strangest thing! I already don't allow unregistered guests from viewing the member list so I wasn't too concerned about it. It did appear that a bot was attempting to rummage through the members files though!

Right, that's what I was thinking, too. I'm going to hold off on the banning of the IP until I notice it again but damn if it ain't pecuiliar.

Maybe it's a search bot?

I saw elsewhere that google bots got stuck in member profiles. It could be that.

Good insight, Mark. I noticed that my google rankings had changed as of the "attack"... for the better
