vB Connect
why don't develop a vB Connect to optimize the vB network since it is so huge across million of sites
so the idea is use a membership shared among all sites which are powered by vB, just like another facebook/ twitter connect |

I could see that posing a HUGE security risk. I wouldn't want that for my forum, but that may just be me.

The concept seems nice, but there are a few issues with it. I surely do not want to give out member data to third parties. I think thats not good for their privacy. Competing sites could use such network to find your member data and invite them all.
The new facebook app has similar features, as it suggests other vbulletin sites to your members. Mind that vbulletins mother company owns a very large number of forums and sites that compete with vbulletin customers. So that conflict of interest makes it more difficult. |

I do like this idea and have thought about it for a while- but it would require a big company to implement with the right hardware that it is always up and relatively fast, something like Google or Facebook.
Obviously this would be a feature that admin would be able to enable or disable at their discretion but personally I would join a lot more forums if there was a "1 click" way to do so that would automatically sign me up with my preferred username, centralized password, email, and whatever other info I choose to share. Plus the system would verify I wasn't a spammer so I would get immediate access without having to "confirm" my account. |

vbNetwork mod, which I use, shares 1 or more forums (as in forums on your board) with other boards... No users are shared, posts from other boards are treated like guest posts on your board with an @Domain added to the username from the originating board.

Is that supposed to be positive?
No offense, on some forums getting banned has nothing to do with beeing a bad user, but those forums having horrible admins. I mean, buying a software doesn't make you a decent admin at all. And there are some admins out there which i for sure do not want to hold any power over my users. Quote:

Banning wouldn't be across all forums...
Perhaps there could be an option where an admin could choose to honor another forum's bans but it certainly wouldn't be by default. |

There's already openid, facebook, and google accounts. Great idea, but it's already out there, just not in vb. I with they could add more options besides facebook. Google is a google alternative since pretty much everyone has a google account.

I think the idea is that it connects vB sites, not Facebook/Google/Whathaveyou to vB sites. The idea is to connect that community with each other in a more integrated way. So it doesn't really exist yet.
