vBulletin.org Monthly Newsletter

Hi,
vBulletin.org is a great site but unfortunately not all of us get time to spend here regularly to keep up with whats going on. This causes people to miss out a lot of great mods that they would have liked to use on their forum. If vBulletin.org can send members a monthly newsletter listing the : 1. Latest mods. (maybe top few) 2. Latest styles. (maybe top few) 3. Latest graphics. 4. MOTM 5. Interesting threads and discussions. It could also include other announcements and information. I think if such a newsletter can be sent regularly then it will not just help members but increase participation and activity in vb.org itself. I hope the site staff will positively consider this request. Thanks.
|

The 1st 3 you can already do yourself by subscribing to those forums. I've done this and get a list of "New" and "Updated" modifications every night in my email

Every night is a bit too much. It will get tiring after sometime and become like spam. A monthly newsletter will be comfortable for all to read.

The newsletter can be generated automatically by software for the first four items. However software cannot always make the best decisions on which threads to recommend and which threads not to recommend. Therefore it can also be made manually by volunteer members and/or the vBulletin.org staff.
I can assist in making of the monthly newsletter if required. |

What software are you referring to ?

Well, the software that would be suitable for vB.org is not available readily but it would be something on the lines of GAZ as JacquiiCooke has mentioned. I hope some of the coders here can write something similar.
Basically the threads created in a certain period (1 month) will have to be listed in the newsletter. Additional filters to determine the most relevant thread can be the number of installs and the number of replies in the thread. For instance the top 10 threads created in one month in the vBulletin 4.x Styles forum with the most installs can be listed in the newsletter. |

There is nothing wrong with the idea.
Its simply a matter of time and priorities. I will add this to our suggestions list. |
