Currently, people can create an account (non-vbulletin) for themselves on my site (all customers have one) ? I store this information in a MySQL database.
Each user has a password for their account, and each account has a unique e-mail address. With the current system, the forums are a completely different beast, so a user can create a account on my site but then when they want to post a question in the forums, they have to create a completely separate forums account. I don?t like that ? I?d love it if we could integrate the membership database(s) or at the very least make it so that when a user creates a account on my site, it automatically creates a vBulletin account for them with the same credentials so that it appears seamless to them. And if they change their password in one, it should affect the other, etc. What's the best way to accomplish this? I'm sure i'm not the first to do it. Thanks, --------------- Added [DATE]1294329942[/DATE] at [TIME]1294329942[/TIME] --------------- Spent the morning looking for solutions for this problem. Doesn't look like I'm the first one who wants to do this! These are the best links I could find so far... http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...with-main-site http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...e-on-vBulletin It looks like the portal route is the best i've found so far. Any other opinions? |
