JPiC Forum For Writers ((redesign JPiC 3.0))
This forum is newly redesigned after a horrid issue with HostV left us with only a database backup and files I'd saved locally on my pc. Both the backup and files were from early 2008. JPiC had always been a great little community. The redesign incorporates quite a few custom modifications that we are proud of, including our JPiC Magnet Poetry and our Literary Articles Database. The mainsite is powered by Subdreamer CMS with vBulletin integrated w/ matching skin. A lot of time and dedication has gone into the new JPiC 3.0 design. We lost thousands of posts, but it was better to recreate from something than nothing at all, so we're happy about that. Anyway - Hope ya'll like what I've done with it There's still a little work to be done on it - but I say the site is about 98% complete. Anyway = what do ya'll think? Suggestions & feedback will be most appreciated! Thanks, Jacquii. btw - feel free to login and view as a registered member. Username: JPiC Test |

It's really good. I don't have any suggestions, I was just very impressed with the amount of work you've put into customising it

Thanks guys! Anything you see that needs improvement - please let me know.
Thanks for your post Randomm - I'm considering condensing some of the forums, as not all sections have a huge amount of posts. My previous style had the tabbed forum home modification so it wasn't so long a scroll - but I decided to go without the tabs this time to make navigating more simple. Anyway - thanks again for the nice comments - I'm glad ya'll like my work Jacquii. |

site looks nice:
1) when i go to forums home page, i get the following java script error. pls take a look at it: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; GTB6.6) Timestamp: Wed, 29 Dec 2010 14:16:31 UTC Message: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object Line: 67 Char: 5 Code: 0 URI: http://jpicforum.info/forum/ 2) Initial page forum home page loading time is more than 20 secs for me...can you please check the page using firebug (or google page speed) to see where the issue is? it could be because of image files or java script files, not sure please check on this as well. 3) Left side navbar header are smaller than the widget size, you may need to increase the size to match the width. overall the design looks good...good luck! |

Can you verify please which browser you saw those errors in? As far as pageload - the site is obviously a bit image-heavy. I believe the header is 90KB - My main css file is 40KB -- Is that too large a file size? I've often wondered about that... But generally speaking - I personally do not have issues with pageload - server is very fast and my internet connection is blazing speed, so that may be an issue on your end? Thanks for the feedback! --------------- Added [DATE]1293662956[/DATE] at [TIME]1293662956[/TIME] --------------- Thanks Brandon and yes indeed = I've been doing manual backups until I get my automated system in place. |
