Milestone Posts
Does anyone have a simple way, whether through a Mod or not, of identifying Milestones posts ?
We're approaching 200k posts and we'd like to award a prize. Our site stats say Posts: 199,743 When a new post is created, I see "/forum/showthread.php?p=302835" which a fair way out so using the URL won't help. Any ideas on how to capture milestone posts ? |

I couldn't imagine this working without using the URL... who's to say what was the 200,000th post if you delete several spam posts right after you hit 200,000- then you'll be back below 200,000.
I just checked my board... we're reporting about 865,000 posts and our URL is up to about 880,000... the difference is because posts have been deleted over the years. If you stop deleting more posts from here on out you can use simple arithmetic to find out what URL will correspond to post 200,000 and set a conditional in showthread or something "if" post # 399,999 or whatver then display some extra text saying like "200,000th Post!" |

Yeah, I can understand the spam deletion, but I'm puzzled as to why my board stats and url count is over 100,000 out.
Could it be because we migrated from another board sw some time back ? Could we really have 300k odd posts but our Stats only show 200k ? Confused...... |

Very well might have been the migration... did you ever mass prune posts at some point in the past? In any case going forward the URL number minus 103092 should get you pretty close to 200,000. Post 303,092 should be your 200,000 if your numbers were exact.

Yeah, we caught the 200k poster but shutting the board down, doing a quick calc so all works.
Still intrigued by the 100k discrepency though. There's no way we pruned 100k posts. There is a possibility we had close to 100k when we migrated. It makes me wonder if those 100k posts are being reflected in the board stats. |
