What I'm trying to achieve is something like this:

The forum you linked is using the default look. Anyway, from the look of it you want to place a background image to your forum. Have a look at the doc_background stylevar for that. (Enter the url to the image you want to use as a abckground for your forum where it says: Background Image)

The image doesn't show.

Did you enter the url to your image properly? For ex:

Code:

url(images/bacground.jpg)

Then make sure that you have uploaded the bacground.jpg at your images directory.

I just copypasta'd the url. I'm assuming I did something wrong.

You didn''t enter it properly. Try this for the direct url.

HTML Code:

url(http://www.pr3knights.com/layout/firestone/images/background.jpg)

You should place the image link inside the the url() indetifier, like in my example above. Try it and let me know.
