Auto close/open
Hi,
I currently use vb on a number of sites but am thinking of using it again on another customer site as they require a bulletin board. Ultimately the board will be used by minors and there are certain safeguards that we want to put in place. One idea suggested was that the forum was to be closed during night hours when there would be no active moderators on the site. Ideally this would be after 10pm and then open again at 9am. Does anybody know if this could be automated, so that the forum would automatically go offline during the twilight hours. Thanks in advance, Richie |

I would bet this is a database field. I'm not super familiar with the vBulletin table structure, but look for a configuration table and an on/off entry in it. Then in PHP or something else, write a script that turns it off and one that turns it on. Then set up a CRON on your server. That's only one way, someone else may have a much better answer.

Thanks for getting back, thinking about this, another way maybe to find the PHP script that checks the status and set a condition within that file that checks the time and returns either a true or false as to whether the forum should be on or off. Not sure which file will contain this but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
If anyone has a simpler resolution, please let me know. |
