How to rid default welcome message?
Hello please help.
How can I get rid of / delete, or maybe even modify the default welcome message to people. It's a default vBulletin thing...I think it's a hook but not sure? X? Quote:

--------------- Added [DATE]1270989735[/DATE] at [TIME]1270989735[/TIME] --------------- in fact my way seems a little more effective since you dont have to delete anything, you can edit it, turn it off, add to it.... lol so FAIL on your behalf lol. |

Actually SpeedJunkyz is the closest to giving the most correct solution.
Correct solution: AdminCP -> vBUlletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Send Welcome Email You can turn it off from here, or change the text. |

I could be wrong and Marco, no doubt, knows more about vB than me But I think maybe he means that guest welcome message that displays on the index page before you login or register. The welcome email option wouldn't have any effect on that would it?
When I removed mine, I just edited the FORUMHOME template as Beav said because I wanted rid of it completely. I opted to use a Notice instead so that I could get a message to guests to display on every page instead of just the index in hopes of getting more registrations. For that, after doing what Beav said, you'd make a new Notice in your ACP with your message and have the condition for it to display as "belongs to the usergroup: unregistered/not logged in". But, if you wanted to just edit the message rather than delete it completely (and only have it show on the index page) then you'd just edit the phrase as g0dfather1984 stated. Either I didn't know about this option that SpeedJunkyz and Marco are talking about (which is entirely possible, haha) or we're just talking about different messages. |
