I've been piecing together the phpshop files and making a few customizations as I learn.

I've gotten to the point where I'd like the user data base for phpshop to be linked to my members in the vbulletin.

I'm at a loss how to do this. I'd like my members to be able to be recognized in the shop and then asked about bililng and shipping information.

I also need to customize the shipping costs and need help with php. I'm willing to pay for someone to help me with code since it is taking me soooo long to figure this stuff out.

I'm almost finished...but sure could use help with this last bit.

Thanks!

I might be able to help you out Kathy. Do you have a URL for phpshop? phpshop.com doesn't seem to work.

Thanks James...and here is there forum:
http://www.phpshop.org/forums/

They offer plenty of help...and I've posted there (I created a shipping array based on 4 countries ...since I only ship to USA, Canada, UK and AUS) and using rates based on weights.

There is built in "intershipper" that works part of the time. Its just that half the time, the intershipper doesn't work at all...and so the customers wouldn't be able to get their order processed. In the phpshop code, there is an spot for alternative code for shipping in case intershipper isn't working. But I have no clue how to add it/modify it.

Of course, I am willing to hire for pay for someone to help me out:
fixing my shipping issue
using the VBulletin database (and modifying the billing/shipping address request info since currently to "register" for the store requires their billing address and if they were already registered as a VB member, this would have to be asked of them on "checkout")

And of course, I have a hack that isn't working in my upgrade on VB. If you think you could figure that out for me, I'll pay for that as well.

I had some great help installing/customizing those hacks. They are just so busy with VB and their own sites, they don't have time to fix them now....(apparently a tiny bit of code wasn't documented in a hack so I've missed it not knowing much php)

Email me if you would like this project. Thanks!

I would caution you not to spend too much time integrating phpShop with vBulletin unless you are also looking at phpShop-core RC1.

Why? Because phpshop 0.61a is a dead end release of phpShop.

Core RC1 is out. RC2 is imminent. Commerce will follow and will completely replace 0.61a.

I don't meant to disuade you from making these two systems work together, only to caution you that phpShop will soon be replaced with the new Core+Commerce modules.

Thanks T. Can you tell me what this means?

DOes this mean that all my work on phpshop will go out the tubes with the new release? It isn't an upgrade but a whole net shop?

I guess I'm confused at the terminiology. I've been working on phpshop but have no idea what RC1 means. When you say imminent, do you mean next week?

I've been working on phpshop since last spring (groan) and I've worked like a crazy woman to get what I have. I just can't rely on the shipping stuff/rates and use of intershipper (thus the array I fixed based on actual charges/weight at usps.)

How would I use RC1 at this point? Is it an additional install? Argh!

::: Pulling hair ::::

Thanks for your help.

I wish I could answer your questions more precisely, but no, Commerce will not be out in a couple of weeks.

phpShop-core RC1 - Release Candidate 1 - is the first release candidate for a new product base. phpShop-core is designed to be an application development platform for PHP applications.

RC2 is going to ship real soon now - this could be in a week - and replaces a number of things in RC1 (like PHPLIB templates, and integration of Smarty).

Once phpShop-Core final ships, Commerce development under Core will commence. Commerce will be a complete replacement for the existing phpShop shopping cart application, running under Core.

It's still a few months away at best by my estimates - though I'm not on the development team, I'm only guessing based on communications with a couple of the developers.

You phpShop work will likely not transfer as too much will be different between the new package and the old. Not that it won't be a good learning, but it's not likely to be directly applicable.

phpShop as it exists now is at the end of it's lifecycle and will not be developed further by the original development team. phpShop-Core and Commerce will be the replacement shopping cart application.

Does that help?

Yes, this helps alot. It makes me sad

I am at that place where I figure with a bit of php help from someone, I could go live with my little store. I just need that shipping array included in the right place, with the right code so that I don't have to deal with intershipper.

This is so frustrating. Big WAH!

Is it possible I could just find help with php for the shipping rates, get that working and ignore the vb database tie in and let it go live and live with it while I learn how to get RB2 to work with commerce? Seems like its half a year away still....?

In this case, can anyone here help me with php code? I can pay...

In a slightly related note, at some point I'm hoping to make a crude Quikstore hack for vBulletin (I might need to alter quikstore also). There are two things I would like to be able to do...

1- store the current cart information on the server associated with that username. This may be a case of altering quikstore to log a username with the cart (and to not expire that cart...)

2- store a log of orders in the PMs for that user (in an order-history folder). This will be done at the same stage as the CGI script sends the customer an email, it will hopefully also send a call to vB.

Just food for thought ^_^
