Basically I got into this whole mess of missing a token when I do the quick search and it being too hard and confusing to fix it... so, anyhow I just want to disable the quick search and make the user go to Advanced search when they click Search. For some reason, this is already what happens for registered users. For other usergroups, like Admin, quick search is still enabled. I cant figure out why!

This isn't going to be any simpler for you than fixing the security token error, because both require you going into your templates and editing code. You'd have to find the code in the templates that displays the search link to registered users and change the link to the advance search page. This would require you removing some code and editing some code, not much different than adding the strip of code that would fix your security token error.

Could you direct me to more easier instructions for the 'missing security token' error that occurs when I search? Because I asked earlier and I got this really, really, complicated guide to fixing it.
