Get rid of white space & events duplication issues?

How do I get rid of
-White space between categories
-Whie space between forum block on the top and the first category

Also after I applied one of the hacks for whats going on, I got two events listed i.e. one at the top and one at the bottom. How do I get rid of the bottom one? Also how do I make this top events come on every forum/sub-forum clicks.

Any specific coding modifications examples you could provide is greatly appreciated.
