win7 crahes - no bootup
reset comp today (which i dont normally do) and only thing i installed prior to reseting was printer drivers for samsung.
Comp went to boot back up and comes up with BSOD and wont even go in safe mode. Just has a black screen with mouse pointer and thats it. Im having to download the beta of win7 as i cant find the download i had before then im going to see if i can fix the win7 copy does anyone have any tips on what i need to do or should i just format the drive or install over the top of it ?? |

1. Find a website specialised in Win7 and have a look there. The vB.org lounge is not the most obvious place to ask about beta software of windows.
2. Maybe don't use beta software. |

People ask about paypal and nothing is said marco. And various other online software applications. Lasto hasn't broken any guidelines.

I'm not trolling marco. Lasto merely asked a question which as far as i know needs answered not redirecting.
I'll be contacting IB about past occurrences though because this seems to be all surfacing again. |

Are you running Win7 Beta or Win7 RC?
Beta was set to expire fairly recently. If that is not the root then try pulling any USB connections and/or other hardware connected (Specifically the printer) and see if it will boot then. Outside of that you are looking at a restore from the OS disk or loading up some form of diagnostic boot utility (BartPE being my personal favorite) and disabling the driver by hand. |

Had no luck restoring win7 so im now back on my winxp
Is a big difference between xp and Win7 - i could`nt believe it after using win7 how old fashioned and basic looking xp actually is. But one thing at least Xp works kk |

Unfortunate that you haven't had any luck. You are using the Windows 7 RC, and not the Beta, correct? If you are using the beta, switch to the RC post-haste. You can get your license and key over here from Microsoft off of TechNet: *** URL removed ***
Beyond that, I'm not sure what happened. Did you write down what the stop code was when you saw the BSOD? Usually if you get that, then you can see what happened. My guess is something weird happened with one of the drivers that activates upon boot, but that is just a guess. If you have any of the error codes or could get in via the recovery console from the Windows 7 RC install DVD then you could likely fix it, or at least have the information to present to others. As far as for what Marco suggested, there is the official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here *** URL removed *** . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to post your question there. Given the right information they can usually point out a fix pretty quick. Staff note: if you want to provide URL's to the official Technet pages, then please use a direct link and not some redirect of which we have no clue where it will lead. For security reasons URL's removed. |
