I'm very new to vBulletin, I know my way around php and I'm looking for some direction. If anyone has ever played World of Warcraft, or even visited their boards, they mark the threads where developers have posted with an icon. I know how I want to go about it, setting a flag when an admin posts in a thread, but I'm not sure where to begin. Obviously newreply makes the most sense, and just setting a flag for that specific thread, but I can't find any documentation in regards to how one would go about doing that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There isn't really any documentation to tell you exactly how to go about it. The best thing I can suggest is to find a modification that does something similar and see how they went about it.

How about a thread prefix? You can use an icon instead of text.

How would I go about changing the prefix when a user that is part of the admin group has posted in any given thread?

No, whomever starts the thread sets the prefix.... or whomever has thread editing rights in that part of your forum can add it.

See the colored wheels in the screenshot attached. These are inserted using the thread prefix.
