I have a classifieds section on my forum and I want to make it so the only person that can post a reply to a thread is the original poster (like, to let people know the item was sold etc).

Does anyone know how to do this?

go to ACP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Permissions -> Usergroups -> Can reply to other's threads -> no
