This mod is awesome to seperate normal and sticky threads. See Demo Here
It's not what you're looking for but it seperates the two. So, it's relevant. I've seen a mod for what you're talking about.. You can make like color thread prefixes or something. |

It's just a phrase. Do a search on "sticky" and you'll find the phrase (sticky_thread_prefix) and you can just modify it using the css span tag:
