If it's populated, it should be available as $post['newscoments'] (misspelling is yours - or did you spell it correctly in one place and incorrectly in another?) in the postbit templates.

When I talk about it being 'populated', I'm asking whether there is anything in that field in the database. If there is nothing there, you won't have anything output. Do you perhaps have the field inside a condition that is causing it to not show up? Or are you using invalid html which is causing it to be located somewhere else on the page? Also, $post[yourvariable] will show the value for the person posting, not the person viewing. I assume that is what you want.
