First attachment as post header image

i'd really like to know if it's possible to extract the first attachment (in full size) to be put into the postbit before the message starts?

So, rather than the usual:
-Thread Title
-Post Message
-Attachment Thumbnails

i'd like to have:
-Thread Title
-First Attachment in Full size
-Post Message
-Attachment Thumbnails

Could this be the first attachment image code?

This is what I'm trying to do too. There are many similar options but I haven't been able to find the best method to accomplish this. And I've done a lot of searching.

Actually I would prefer to be able to put it in the header itself (First attachment of first post in thread), rather than in the Msg body, and have the image show up as a thumbnail in the showthreads displays too.

I wish there was a snippit of code that I could place wherever I want, but I understand how difficult it is to identify the particular image/attachment across different placements.

I realized that the way I'd most like to do this is to somehow find the code to grab the thumb of the first attachment and add it above the first post.

I have the thread title customized to display above the thread (near the top POST REPLY) button, and ideally I'd like to be able to show the first attachment thumb on that line.

Is this going to be possible?

Anything is possible if you code it. But, what you are talking about is going to take some coding ability on your part. I'm not sure of the best way to go about it - there are a few ways to do it I'm sure. Have you tried to do any of the coding yet?

Hi Lynne!

No, can't code. I might experiment with on of the thread-image mods here and see if I can move that code around though. I thought it might be a bit easier if someone saw this and said "Hey, sure, just insert this code to the .php file, and add this to the template."

Yeah, I know.. too easy, but a guy can dream.

If I can figure this out I'll post my results here, with full credit to whomever leads me in the right direction.
