Email Address Finder

Hello,

Not sure if something like this already exists...

When one wants to email a post/thread to a friend, are there any mods that allow the user to log on to their external email accounts and allow them to send emails to the individuals on their address book?

I had installed openinviter as a mod on my vbulletin but it didn't do what I needed unless one needs to customize it which I have no clue how to do.

I did see their was a friend invite mod but I still see you have to manually enter in all of the email addresses and it can't be used to email an individual post/thread but just to invite friends to one's forum.

I am specifically looking for this function to be available when the user wants to email the post/thread to a friend for contest purposes but it would be great if the current friend invite had this option as well.

For those that don't know what I'm speaking about, I have attached a picture of the tool Twitter uses to allow users to invite their friends.

That would be excellent. Its an easily abused system though. Both from users and admins.

Don't mean to ask a dumb question but how so?

If the user is the only one that would have access to their own friends how do users and admins abuse it? Just curious as I would never want this abuse to affect my forum.

Its a good spam oppertunity. Collating loads of email addresses could be very easily abused it doesnt really need an explanation.

The owner of the email address doesnt have a choice of whether they want to recieve the email address or not.

I cant think of any other providers but it looks hopefull, mabey a clever developer could make something for vBulletin

This would be great to add on to the current mod that allows one to invite friends and the email page to a friend feature.

It cant be abused. you cant change the info going to the list of members in the users contact email. So the only thing going out to them is the email saying, 'Come join this site'

and on the admin level, none of the emails are stored, once the email is sent, it gets purged from the temp folder.

Milad can hook you up, he got me one that works flawlessly.

If i would receive such an email, only because someone has my email address, i would not hesitate to report the mail as spam, i never asked to receive advertisements for you forum. Soon your domain will be on the list of spammers and your site might be blocked by mail providers.

(Just showing that you should be carefull with things like this, as it is likely to backfire)
