Is there a hack to allow 2 forum thread lists to exists side by side

This would allow a visitor to read the thread titles of BOTH topics "at a glance" on the SAME PAGE but does some sort of pre sorting to make reading easier.. Left side is one sub forum right side is another

I have not seen such a modification. To be honest, I don't think this will improve usability.

It would enable an 'at a glance' comparative view of two separate but related forums at the same time

This would be of use to my forum members.

Jah Hools, I don't know of one that exists, however you could use frames to put two whole pages next to each other, it wouldn't be really nice looking, but could get the job done if you need to. This would be done outside of the forum software.
