How Can I Prevent User Updates

Hello,
We are implementing single sign on to our forums via our dealer portal. To do this, we are exporting user id's and passwords from our portal and hardmapping them to our forums. As such, we wish to prevent password changes. I found some posts regarding this, but the information given was limited. I have no idea how to remove the editable fields nor all the templates that might be involved. I know it is a lot to ask, but if someone could take the time to tell me how to do this and which templates I'll need to change, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Users are unable to change userids, or usernames. The only thing you would need to worry about is passwords. Doing a Search in Templates for the word password, shows me several templates, but just a couple have to do with changing the password... I think.

Try this on a new style first!!!! Then test it and see if this does what you want (check your User CP and also logout, try to login with a wrong password, and then try the link to reset your password). I've never done this and I'm not gonna test it myself, so you will have to do it.

Here's the couple of the templates that come up with a search that I think have something to do with what you want and a suggestion on what to do:

- lostpw - modify it to basically take out the form (everything between <form> and </form>, then you will get rid of the ability to request a new password.
- modifypassword - delete the contents

Also, change the phrase "email_and_password" to whatever you want.

Test that on your new style and see if it's what you need.
