RSS and bots
Hey all
Im after a bot, or trying to get a user to stay online and update my RSS feed on my forum constantly. Also, if this "bot" was to edit the same thread, with the update, would be handy. I just want to run a rss feed into a thread called "weather" but im having trouble creating a user that will update it (user doesnt stay online) Cheers Howie, |

Why do you need them to 'stay online'? If you use the RSS Feed Manager, it will post and the user doesn't have to stay online. The feed manager will not actually edit the thread though, it will only make new posts/threads.

Hey Lynne
Yes i am creating a Weather rss feed. I made the user "Weatherman" and i run the rss feed and it worked. It wouldnt update howver, i tried it at 30 minutes, nothing, I tried it at 10 minutes, nothing. What settings should I adjust do you think? Should I make some settings for my username? Oh and you said it posts new posts, thats fine, but is there a setting that makes it so that the thread wont be "bumped" if its always top posts this could really annoy my members. This is the link im trying to use: http://rss.weather.com.au/vic/melbourne Now, I can get it to work once, but updating is a no-go. Any steps or a checklist of things i should run over? As I said, its wierd, works the first time, then nothing. If I do run sheduled task, it creates a new thread. I want it to just update in posts.. Howie |
