Moving Hosts and Have Questions
Ok, before you hit back I have one or two questions that I really need help on. I'm planning on moving to ASO (ASmallOrange) from HostGator. Right now, my forum is empty so I can move with out panic, my question is that because when you move to a different host, your database names, forum paths, and everything else would be different and that is it possible to have some special tool to help you fix everything including Modifications/addons?
What I mean is when you first install vbulletin, you would have to edit the config.php inside the install folder. Because I changed host, obviously I would need to edit those details.. but I have a various amount of addons added and I'm not sure which one need edits. For sure I know config.php, for specific addons such as vBSEO, you need to edit it to your forum path in one of the php files provided or htacess. I have a list of addons that I have installed on my website and if you know at least one that needs to be edited, please post! Quote:
Also, if you guys have any good migration tips, I would be glad to hear it! Thanks So Much, T3N. |

The only thing you'd probably have to edit is the config.php file, and if any of the plugins/modifications need a path hardcoded into them. (photoplog? vBACMPS)
I suggest trying to register at ASO to get the same account name/login you do at HostGator and you probably won't need to edit anything. |

Have a look at Moving Servers. (This assumes you have shell access, but it still details the process.)
