Depends on what the target audience is to what are the best mods. For example, a game cheats website may feel the arcade is the best mod but I can't see it being suitable in your case.
Anyway, I'll give you a list of my favorites. MGC Chatbox - A nice shoutbox which is very easy to manage. NoSPAM! A question verification to prevent spam. Customisable forum statistics Separate Sticky and Normal threads - Makes sticked threads stand out Yet Another Award System Icons for usercp, makes the user control panel nicer Autmatic Thread Tagger (as no one seems to bother tagging threads) Yet Another User Group Legend PS Help Center Arcade |

Ya, I've never seen two such lists that are identical. It's different for everyone.
The most important thing is to get your forums running well before you start adding mods. And always add one mod at a time, testing things like server load afterwards for a while. |

I would not use most of the mods that nethunt lists, while he is very happy with those. This illustrates exactly what Videx says.
Maybe you will find it helpful to check which mods have the most installs. |
