BB Code
How can I turn off BB code for unregistered users?
I looked in the BB code settings and the Unregistered User settings and I can't find it. Right now I have unregistered users posting porno on the site and I don't want to go to to a "registered only" forum. Here are the current settings for unregistered: Posting Rules You may post new threads You may post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is Off I want to turn off the BB code and the [IMG] code on unregistered users only. Anyone that can help with that? Thanks in advance |

You cannot turn it off using default vbulletin settings. You will have to install a modification to do so. Search "link*" (or similar) "all mods" "titles only" will get you modifications like this - Forbid Users from Posting Links or Images if They Have Fewer than 15 Posts

Thanks for the reply but I don't see anything that is reported to be working on the latest version so I am still in a quandry.
I can't find out how to turn BB Code off completely, it's not in the BB Code settings or in the User settings that I found???? Right now I have spammers posting porno on a fishing website as a Guest because they are using BB Code. Can I turn it off completely somewhere that I'm missing? Thanks...this is a mess. I purchased this software to prevent this kind of thing.....but it's not doing any better than my previous forum software at this time......sigh |

Right there in vboptions > BB Code Settings > Enabled Built-in BBCode, you may turn off all your BBCode.

Again, thanks for taking the time to help out.
That is not one of the settings in my BB Settings...... I am running version 3.73 patch level 1 (latest version) and there are boxes that I can check so I have "unchecked" all of them....yet the BB Code and the [IMG] code are still turned on. |

Are they posting this in their signatures perhaps? Do you have html enabled in your forums? Do you have a modification perhaps interferring with your disabling the bbcode?

The only mods that I have are for the header logo and the Album mod that I got here.
It's not through the signature since you have to be registered to have a signature, but any guest and use the BB Code and upload any picture. I HAVE to turn that off......but I can't figure out how to do it. I don't have a button to turn off BB Code anywhere that I can find. It's not in the Usergroups, it's not in the BB Code Settings...... It's not good.....unregistered users (anyone) can post any picture they want. And some of them......are pretty bad The URL is: http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/index.php if you wanted to check it out. Right now I"ve got 7 moderators on full duty trying to keep the spammers off the boards. |

You are allowing Guests to make threads and posts? Turn that off in usergroup manager > unregistered users > can post threads and can reply to own threads and can reply to others thread and all that stuff there.
If you have all those things turned off, then I don't understand how they are posting images. I am unfamiliar with the album mod, but since it has to do with images, you might want to turn it off and see if that fixes things. (Also, you may delete my thread - http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1058720#post1058720. Also, that was posted in a forum which says you need to be registered in order to post in. You've got to go over all your permissions cuz they are not correct.) |

But I want guests to be able to post and reply because a lot of my traffic is during work hours and people cannot login from work so they have to post/reply as guests.
I want to stop guests from being able to post images.....that is what I'm trying to do. I can't seem to turn that off for unregistered users???? Is that not an option with this forum software? Registered users are not the problem, it's spammers logging in as guests. 99% of my guests are true guests....and I hate to punish them. I'd rather control the uploads |
