Default Posting in Closed Posted

I am having an issue with moderators continuing to post in threads that I have closed. I know I could slap them about, but I was hoping for a better solution.

Is there a way in the ACP to not allow moderators to post in threads that have been closed? Even if the threads were closed by them?

I know this is not possible in the unmodified vBulletin system. Does anybody know of a mod that can accomplish this?

Just slap them about a bit... far more efficient and when it comes to upgrade there is a 100% chance it will work with the latest version of vBulletin.

To be honest there is point adding yet another modification that does something simple like that, its like creating extra hassle for something you can just tell somebody to do. Just make a thread, tell them to stop it and kick them out if they don't obey the rule. Simple.

I'll have to disagree with Opserty here. I'm one of those that just doesn't look to see if a thread is closed or not and have accidentally posted several times in closed threads.

The problem do not come from the code but from people's attitude...

if you see the "CLOSED" button and still click on it to post, that means you WANT to avoid the rule of closed threads. deleting the quickreply field may help, but if they continue clicking the closed button to post anyway -- as most will do -- they may need a big kick on their bot... lol

Well, I did not mean to turn this into a debate. I agree with the "slap around" theaory, but I like to keep my users happy too. I think it is just a matter of people getting involved in a topic and not noticing that it is closed.

They aren't just your users though, they're you're moderators.

I understand that. However, if I take away the option, I solve the problem without a confrontation.

It isn't always a moderator replying just to get the last word. I know that is NEVER my intent when I have done so. It's just that I see a thread, have something to say, and go down to Quick Reply and say it. It isn't until later when I see someone say something about how I replied (again!!) in a Closed thread that I realize it. I'm the Admin on my forums, I can slap myself around as much as possible, but it just doesn't stop me.

That is why removing the quick reply is the appropriate action.
