Who's Online page - accurate stats
Hey everyone
I have noticed that the VB Who's Online page tends to continue showing some members who have not been active for up to an hour, in which after this timeframe they will be automatically removed from the list. I am assuming this is related to members who fail to log out before leaving the site. It would be great if there was some ind of modification which would allow an Admin to set an 'idle' time in which members who have been not been active for X amount of time, are no longer displayed on this page. For example, if 15 minutes is set as the idle time, then any members who have been inactive/idle for over 15 minutes are automatically removed from the list, and only ones who have been active within that timeframe are still shown. Can this be done and would anybody possibly be interested in programming something like this for VB 3.7? Look forward to hearing back from someone! Cheers, Nikki. |

This is controlled by the Session Timeout in your vB options.
AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> Cookies and HTTP Header Options -> Session Timeout |

Hi Marco,
Thanks for that Though I admit I am not really keen on setting members sessions to expire prematurely (ie. 60 mins or less) since they may just be busy doing something else online - on another website or what not - at the time. We had it set a lot lower when I first converted to VB and it didn't go down very well, members were complaining of having to log back in over and over. So if this can still be done without actually expiring the session on them, just detecting their forum activity going by idle time and displaying accordingly on Who's Online, it would be great. The default value is 15 minutes. And if your members tick the remember box, then they will never even notice if their session timed-out.
