Collapsible sidebar
I have the following website that has a collapsible side bar http://www.alienwareniche.com/forums/index.php
It works, but once you go to another page it doesn't remember that you collapsed it, so it almost becomes pointless. I would like to make it remember that you collapsed it and it would stay collapsed on all pages until you decided to open it back up. I've read on how the site statistics collapsible, etc works, but they collapse vertically, and I need a horizontal collapse. Is there any way I can do this? I'm currently using the following script that I found on Dynamic Drive to do this http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...edcollapse.htm Any help would be appreciated, all I need is for the browser to remember that you have it collapsed and makes it stay collapsed until you decide to reopen it. |

Hello there, I was looking over your site and I believe your problem is that you are not using the "hide=1/0" command for each Div that you have set up within the code which is why it appears Open again on new page as your default is set to always open when you do not have the "hide=1/0" tag present for that script

That doesn't appear to work, it makes it stay collapsed when you collapse it on the home page and you come back to the home page...but when you go to a different page it doesn't have it collapsed for that page as well.

Anyone else? I'd really really like to make this work, I've had to withdraw the style because people were complaining about the sidebar not memorizing it's position.
I tried this "mod" and it does the same thing. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=173996 Is there any way I can make it stay in the database somehow, like vbulletin's vertical collapsible? |

Where is this collapsible sidebar? I don't see it. I see a side bar on the forumdisplay page, but it isn't collapsible. If you want it to stay collapsed on all pages, then you need to make sure the id for the div or whatever is exactly the same on all the pages otherwise the cookie won't be set correctly.

Oh, the style isn't enabled right now as the default, go here and you can see it http://www.alienwareniche.com/forums...php?styleid=16

You are talking about the javascript collapsible box on the left that currently is non-functional? (The one with Register, Members List, etc in it.) In order to have the site remember whether it was collapsed or not, I think you need to set a cookie. Are you doing that? I'm not a javascript expert though. I thought you were talking about using the vb collapsible boxes.

Ahaha! Fixed! Apparently I was using an old version of the javascript that Dynamic Drive had, it appears to be working now When I'm finished with this I'll post my code so others can use it. It was nonfunctional because I was messing around with it trying to figure out what the problem was.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I was looking to do this exact same thing. Any chance of posting the code?
