Inbox notification on another webpage

My website offers a "my website" where a registered user can setup different blocks, links etc.

When I was running DCScripts I had it set to show on the "home page" if there were messages in the Inbox.

I need to setup the "MyHomepage" so that if that person has any messages in his/her Inbox it displays on their "homepage" so they know to retrieve them.

Is there anyone that has done this and could help me with it?

I'm not a programmer but if I can get some help I might be able to do it?
