Giving Cell Phone Users Use of My Forum
I have a feeling that this is already possible, and half the people on here have already tackled it. That said, I'm not the most up to date person, so I'm going to ask if someone can guide me through this, or at least point me in the right direction.
My current site is centered around the VB forum (3.7 if it matters). I became interested in starting an SMS service for cell phones to help bring some money in. Charging a very small fee for news and updates regarding my site, sports. Thinking it over more and more, I'd like to take it one step further. That said, please let me know how dumb/impossible this is, or just how slow I am compared to the rest of the game. My website is a sports website, so the SMS service would be based around news surrounding transactions, injuries, etc. So hypothetically, Alex Rodriguez is traded from the New York Yankees to the Boston Red Sox. I'd like to send a message out that says something like, "Alex Rodriguez traded to Red Sox for...". Merely one sentence regarding it. However, I'd like the bottom of the message to be able to link my members via their cell phones to the thread on the boards, so they could quickly text their two cents to the forum. I suppose first would be whether or not this is possible. Second, would be whether or not the posts would show up in a clean manner for the online users (I really wouldn't care if the cell phone users couldn't read what was written by the online members). Third would be, is there a way to integrate cell phone numbers to a username, so they wouldn't have to bother signing in from their own phone. Is any of this possible, and if so, could someone show me how to get started? Thanks guys. |
