Default Breaking up the mod/hack categories

I hate the way VB.org has changed over the last couple of years. I am not referring to the styles. The styles are nice. I am referring to the categories for the mods/hacks. I liked it a lot better when the mods/hacks were broken down into more categories. As it is now you have two categories, Add-ons and Templates.

It would be a lot easier for searching and finding what one wants if you could break down the mod/hack categories like that use to be.

I would like to hear some feedback on this form the VB.org team and at the same time I am creating this as a poll to see how everyone else feels about this.

They are sooo busy deciding which categories to merge in the near future

You can still search mods in a particular "category" with the thread prefix system:

Wow, I never realized that. It is so small and kind of hidden. Maybe they need to somehow bring more attention to them somehow.

Thank you for pointing that out.

Personally, I believe that the most important thing would be to separate actual addons that DO something, from template changes disguised as addons, just because they do the template change automatically or have some settings. I had made a thead somewhere about that, but it wasn't implemented.
Also, I think it would be useful to separate the "hi! this is my first mod and doesn't do much, but..." kind of stuff, from the other addons, although I can't think of a practical way to do so (there are some people's first mods that are actually useful).
I hate it when people say that, but I believe that the quality of the mods has dropped a lot, compared to 1-2 years before, or it just seems that way. I think the solution is some kind of a separation between the crap* and the useful stuff...

*sorry if I offended anyone I just wanted to share my thoughts about this somewhere... Also, I am not implying that "my mods are good, others are crap", I have also released some crap mods from time to time Please, lets not get into a fight about this, but lets try to get something useful for the community out of it... :/

Maybe i don't understand you, but what you describe is exactly how we have it on vB.org.

Suggest an objective, fair, practical and usefull for all community members rule to govern such a thing and we will think about it. But that is almost impossible, so very unlikely to ever happen.

No offense here. All my mods are crap.

You have some good hacks, Boofo. Private message report, for example. I think everyone creates a bad hack in their coding career LOL.

Back on topic, I think the layout is fine the way it is.

PS: It still says 3.7.1 on the version drop down menu when creating a hack. vBulletin.org can't keep up
