My first thing in the morning chore is to clean out our forums. We have a few things in place to prevent spam but some always gets through. I delete the posts and then ban the users. Is there any reason why I should delete them vs. ban them?
Thanks! |

Banning them would just count up the members you have on your forum

I just ban them, since I never really had many. Plus, if you just ban them:
1. They can't re register under said name. 2. Ups the member count. |

Actually I delete them ... however ... i noticed on the 3.7 it seems that there is a really nice interface for spammers who get to post in the real forums ...
However ... in moderate users ... there is only delete. It would be a nice hack or something to include ... if in the moderate users screen you can ban IP address and or email address ... rather than just delete. Usually what I do now is delete, then check ip address (in whois ) then ban email and possibly IP address. ( I bann all .ru and all .cn for example ) It would be a great hack to include all of that into the moderate user screeen. |
