Post showing up in new threads
Today I re-set one of my forums to No for Index new posts in search engine yet they are still showing up when I click on new posts. Is there something else I need to set? Or will all the previous threads in that room continue to show up?
Thanks! |

Indexing the posts for the search engine has to do with whether the posts will be searched if someone uses your search page (or the drop-down search link). It doesn't have to do with whether they are excluded in the New Posts. To exclude forums in the New Posts button, you may add "&exclude=xx" or "&exclude=xx,yy,zz" (separate the forumids by commas) to the end of the New Posts url... ie. "/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=xx"

I'm sorry, I don't know where to put that new information. Can you tell me where specifically to go to edit? Thanks!

You need to edit your navbar where the New Posts link is and add the "exclude" part to the end of the search url there.

Is this what I'm editing?
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=getnew" accesskey="2">$vbphrase[new_posts_nav]</a></td> and do I change it to this? <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=getnew&exclude=xx" accesskey="2">$vbphrase[new_posts_nav]</a></td> Thanks Lynne! |
