Im trying to edit the message box, in my template it just has $messagearea as the message box content. Where exactly does this point to, i cant find a message area template or phrase?

That is just the phrase used in templates for calling the WYSIWYG editor (I think). What exactly are you trying to add?

Im trying to intergrate a word counter into it. I cant find the actual code for the WYSIWYG editor, where exactly does $messagearea point to?

Go to vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code
