Default Apache crashes?

Hi, I seem to have a really wierd problem here. For a long time now, everytime I wake up in the morning, I have to restart httpd (apache 2.0.63).

The reason behind this is that the server fails to serve PHP pages, so the forum on the server is innaccessible. Checking the child thread processes, only 52 at maximum is formed. The server itself is fine and responds well, but it just fails to serve Apache pages.

One of my staff has noticed that it stops serving PHP pages between approximately 10:40 and 10:45 EST (what time is this GMT?)

What is going on?

I'm in a CentOS 4 VPS, with 386 RAM, cPanel/WHM (VPS Optimized). 10GB Hard drive.

The logs don't show anything abnormal - in fact, they don't really show apache crashing. All seems normal in it. I'll post a copy in the morning if is crashes.

I had the same problem some time ago, something was using all the memory available and that was the reason. The logs didn't say anything too.

If you can install software on your server I recommend you to install webmin, and then configure one monitor on Apache to issue a restart command when it detects that the server is down.

Other -> System and Server Status -> Click on Apache Webserver ->

If monitor goes down, run command -> apachectl -k restart

This is doing the job for me...

Not the apache logs for you site, the actual apache log itself. For instance, mine is located at /etc/httpd/logs/error_log

There don't seem to be any memory related issues, but I see a lot of this:

I think XCache is causing this - so I'll be removing that and replacing it with APC
