Automatically resizing pictures to fit avatars?

Hi,

I have been wondering if such a mod has been done earlier. As you know, you set the specs and limits of the avatars to a certain dimension and size.

Sometimes people find a nice picture online to put as avatar, but they are not really bothered at copying/pasting on adobe or paint, and modify the dimensions and size. So I was thinking, why can't they just upload, or link a picture, and the forum automatically resizes it to fit the accepted limits. Something like Google images' thumbnails system.

Has it ever been done? I would love to know, thanks!

If you set some limited dimensions, avatars will be resized when the user uploads only, linked avatars won't resize though.

How do you set the dimensions?

Go into usergroup settings and go to the the avatar section and set the width and height in pixels.
