By default vB is set up to notify admins/mods/whoever of a new user join BEFORE that user clicks the link in the validation email. This means some are not yet placed into the "Moderate Users" queue. Which means, a lot of my admins are going to approve some new users, who aren't even in the list, so the login to admin cp, go to the right menu, and have nothing waiting for them, even though they got an email saying someone joined.
Is there a hack to change this so that people are notified of new users ONLY AFTER they have clicked the validation link in the email they're sent? That way we'll only be notified of a new user once that user is waiting for moderation approval? |

That is not correct, the new user will not enter in the users awaiting moderation until they click the validation link from the email, it is true that the email is sent to notify the admin/mod or whoever, but they are not in the home panel link on the right to moderate the new user until they click that magical validate me link in the email.

My msg on vb.com and the reply I got is here: ----------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just changed it so that new users require moderation. I also have email validation required. Often I get email notification of a new user, go to Moderate Users and they're not listed (???) Why is this? The only reason I can think of is that I'm being notified of them as being a new user, before they validate their accounts through the email they're given. If this is so - how can I change this? It's very frustrating to get notification of a new user waiting moderation, sign in to admin CP, go to the Moderate Users page, and have nobody waiting in the queue. Or, is this an error in vB ?? If so is a fix available? Changing this requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching or asking for help with this over at www.vbulletin.org. |

Im sorry, but your reading their msg incorrectly, all though they should of posted the entire group they are refrencing.
They are telling you they are in the "users awaiting email verification group", not the "users awaiting moderation". 1. register a new user on your site. 2. do NOT verify the account thru email 3. check the admincp home panel page and verify what both myself and vb.com told you. |

1) Ok, I just signed up as a new user. It said I will have an email waiting for me that I have to click.
2) The email is there, so is an email to admin (me) saying there's a new user 3) I will NOT click the link. 4) I go to Admin CP 5) User *is* listed under group Awaiting Confirmation 6) User is *not* listed under awaiting moderation. 7) I click the validation link in the new user's email, it says "Your account has been submitted for moderation by an administrator and will be activated shortly" 8) in Admin CP, the new user is now listed as awaiting moderation. Ok, got it... NOW, is there any way to change it so that admins are only notified AFTER they've clicked the email link and are waiting for moderation? I dont' want to be notified unless a user has verified his email and is waiting my approval, because I really don't care to be notified of possible fake user accounts. Is there a hack available for this? |

Turn off the notification of new users or submit a request to have it done as a hack or paid job.
There are forums for each here to post in, paid job or a free hack request. |
