The guys at VBPortal are currently developing the latest version to use PHP Nuke 5 and take advantage of its addons... so if you still don't like that, then I dunno what kind of integration you're looking for...

SilverBoy,

there was once a script called "Nuke2vb" which combined vb and phpnuke. Since then it has been altered a lot! and most of the phpnuke stuff was taken out, cause of the poor html coding that was done in the early stages of phpnuke. vbPortal was born, to use what phpnuke had and what vb offered, and now in the process of being completed is vBPortal v3.0 which is nuke2vb+advanced. It used phpnuke 5 and is looking really good.

Since phpnuke has such a strong group of followers and addons and hacks are always coming out, it was thought up to let vbportal use the same addons and hacks that were made for phpnuke. So you see here in a few weeks or months, vbPortal 3.0 will come out and will take advantages of phpnuke and vb. So don't count vbportal out

Right now.. version 2.0.1 is showing @ http://www.vbportals.com

But the nuke version is being used on http://www.phpportals.com but at last check it is down so that he can combine the 2.

I'm looking for a way to integrate our vB with Nuke -- and while I've seen vBPortal at phpportals.com -- it doesn't impress me at all.

This might be nothing but the style/templates I'm reacting to, however. I can't really explain why I frown every time I visit...

Brad, you seem familiar with it -- what I'm looking for is:

Single User ID/Password between Nuke and vBulletin
Ability to use existing Nuke 5.x addons, hacks, modules, etc. Including the new limited CSS support
How long before the new version they're testing will be available? I'd really like to get started on it -- before I can even show it to anyone else here, I've got to have it looking decent. And the demo one online won't cut it at all.

SysMom,

First off, I am sorry that vBPortal does not impress you all that much, it sure does impress me.. I mean when I get my hands on the final version you can bet I will have it modified out the wazooo.. but

It could be the style/templates he has one that looks just like vb's just with the added portal, and he has made one for himself that has tabs. We are working on developing alot more templates or styles just like what phpnuke has... so that will or should change your mind. Btw they are easy to create.. so you can make the site almost look like anything you want

vBPortal combines phpnukes abilities with vb abilities. So there will be only one login and password needed throughout the whole site. There is no second registering on anything, if that is what you are wondering about. The user tables have been combined and utilizid for this reason, cause no one wants to have to register twice just to use different features on the same site. Yah maybe if you are yahoo or something with email, and different things, but not here.

The existing Nuke 5.X addons, hacks, modules, etc.. just need a *little* bit of code manipulation and they will work just fine with vbportal. I don't know about the new limited css support, didn't that just come out in the latest version 5.2? 5.1 or whatever was the latest till here recently was what vbportal used to build with/on. So all the brand new addons will have to be looked at and everything. The css support will probably be intergrated as an addon for vbportal, cause I don't think anything else is being added just like vb was doing it.

Testing is going on to get out all of the bugs that can be found, and everything. So I can't give a date or anything as to when it will be ready for distribution, but I will tell you installing it to a fresh vb is done and seems to be error'less The problem, well not for sure if it is a problem is installing over it, just like you would with a hack. For the most part it works, just has to be done correctly and pefectly so far. So as soon as that is all figured out and got the A'OK from a few people that have tried it and successfully got it done, then it will be released

I think everyone that is envolved or around vbportal is eager to get started with it, and start making their site up with styles and colors... but we all have to be patient. Right now it is being beta tested in the contributing members section, and we are just hoping that with the new verison of vb that just came out that it won't delay the vbportal

hope that helps, if you want to know more please stop by the site register and ask more questions there

It really could simply be the theme and design. Sometimes those things get to be before I understand they're in my way.

I'll register and keep an eye on things. I sort of need something soon ... but I really don't relish spending more time deep in the innards of Nuke than I have to. :|

Thanks for responding. I think it'll be a case of needing to try it and then make a decisions.

As for CSS support in the new one ... (yawn) I'm not so sure it is quite up there yet.

just keep up with it... ask questions.. the man with the answers would be wajones, he is the developer. Myself and a few others are there to support and *try* to help out with questions and bugs.. etc. and if he needs a helping hand developing something we are there for that too
