I'm planning on buying either vB or IPB since installing mods on phpbb got very annouying.

I'd like to ask some questions, and hopefully you'll answer them.

1. Am I able to download Mods and Skins free of cost?

2. Which license do i have to buy in order to install vB (for myself) multiple times. For instance, say i have a forum on the Earth, and I use vB, can i use it again for another forum on say, the Sun?

3. Does vB have some sort of "Download" mod?

4. Why shouldn't i chose IPB.

1. All the modifications you see on this site are free, however there are also many paid modifications that are not on this site.

2. Only one instance (one set of files, one database) can be installed per license. You will need multiple licenses for multiple boards.

3. I believe so, search the modifications section.

4. That's for you to decide yourself.

I agree with Dismounted no ones telling you which one to buy its up to you. Although vBulletin is one of the more reputable boards. Along with vBulletin there are other stuff to consider which im sure IPB doesn't have like vBSEO and a great community like this one..Well think it about it. I believe IPB and vBulletin both have demos, so why not give them a try, before purchasing.

1- you have access to vb.org free downloads once you are licensed on vb.com... but you can search on google for some other related vbulletin sites where scripts and mods are released for free or paid... depending on your needs.

2- one site, one vbulletin license... if you have seperate sections available on different urls but going to the same forum, this is one license only... the documentation give you hints about these differences.

3- there is actually 2 free available download systems here, but i know at least 3 that are commercial, for more efficient features... (like paid downloads)...

4- you should choose vBulletin because we answer your questions,... on IPB, they will tell that vB is crap... we do not care if IPB is crap or else.. they release a software that work in a different manner, that's all...
... and i can tell you, i'm a former IPB developper... see where i am now!

Just thought Id chime in. Installing mods on Vbulletin is much easier then Ipb IMO.
