Hi all-
I am looking for a decent way to implement a "detect Ctrl-C" script into a private forum I have. All the users are sworn to secrecy, however, the contents of the private forum is the talk of the town. ![]() I have a javascript that detects ctrl-c, and right-click- copy, but I think it would be much better in php. Of course, closing the forum would be the best way to stop them from taking the info, but that won't happen. Any thoughts on this matter? Thanks in advance! |

No you can't. PHP is server side and therefore won't be able to detect anything on the client side until it is told to process a request. (i.e. when someone clicks a form button).
Any ways in which you try to put this in place can be quickly circumvented. For example I can just Disable JS while visiting your forum and have free-reign over the content. (4 clicks...to be precise ![]() |

Yeah, I know... It's a damn shame. These are people I supposedly "trust" to talk amongst themselves in a private area.
Maybe it's time for a new bunch of friends. ![]() LOL. My other thought would have logically been ajax, however I have no clue with that. Thanks for the prompt reply! If anyone else has ideas, feel free to chime in. |

Well even with the AJAX...disabling JS will still enable people to get the content.

you could go to great extent, and no matter what they will always get your contents.

Blocking Ctrl-C is not going to prevent anyone from copying content if they want. All you probably are going to do is annoy your users.
