To anyone using BBpixel to bridge to Joomla...
Just figured I'd let anyone concerned know...
If any of you are aware, the Joomla team announced a few months ago that they are requiring any of their 3rd party developers to follow a GPL buisness model and release their extensions/modifications under a GPL license or they may possibly face legal action. BBpixel is one of those companies, and has stated if forced to have to go to GPL they will drop support for Joomla altogether. I can't say I blame them. I find it interesting that Joomla would allow commercial developers since the day of thier inception, and now all of a sudden it's a problem. I have recently developed a site that integrated the two, and now find that I may not have support for the bridge in the future. I'm just glad I hadn't put it into production yet. In their defense, BBpixel has generously offered to help me migrate to the CMS of my choice that they will continue to support. However, I don't think I will go that route. I've been playing with VbDrupal, and it seems ideal for a CMS/vB integration. BBpixels response is here. It may be a members only area, I'm not sure. |
