Skins, Styles, Templates and Other Terms
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Please excuse my lack of knowledge. I have been reading for many, many hours in order to understand how to do style, template, etc. changes. I give up! Is there a nice user friendly tutorial or something that can explain in non-tech English how to do this stuff? I must say the VB manual is not very helpful in this regard. Most of you all have a grasp on the big picture but I do not. Reading some of the instructions here on uploading a "skin" for example make no sense. One guy said to upload files from the unzipped "upload" folder of which there is no such folder. I gather you all know what he meant but I am lost in the trees. Thanks in advance for any assistance. If you're lost on uploading, then you have greater problems then working with vBulletin's style and template interface. The average vbulletin Style will be uploaded using FTP to your forums root directory, or your forums 'images' directory.
The readme included in your zip file will direct you where to upload it. Then its a quick matter of uploading your XML in your admin panel's style manager. As for a basic sort of direction, i know of none besides asking at the forum here... and even then, lots of the time they fail at being useful. |

So to upload a skin you 1st have to download the [Zip Rar] from a Designer's thread.... once downloaded you have to log in your FTP and follow the Designers instructions on where to upload the said skin .... most commonly the skin get uploaded to public_html/images thn once uploaded you have to log in your ADCP and import the .Xml file which you have in the downloaded [Zip Rar] .... once done you have your skin uploaded ...
Hope tht was helpfull Regards Wengi |
