Hello.
Is there any way to allow certain usergroups (but not others) to post threads (with or without attachments) in certain forums (but not all) without requiring a moderator to preview it first? I don't want to give these groups "Moderator" authority, I just want to give them posting authority without moderation. The only controls that I see for this is in the Forum Manager where it has "Moderate Posts" Yes/No, "Moderate Threads" Yes/No, "Moderate Attachments" Yes/No. But this appears to be universal for all usergroups, and I want to be able to control which user groups can post directly without moderation, and in which forums this is allowed. For example I have two usergroups: "Pastors" and "Authors". I would like for both to be allowed to post threads/posts along with attachments without moderation being required. I would like for "Registered Users" to also be allowed to post threads/posts along with attachments (in the same forums), however first requring the approval of a moderator. Additionally I would like to have a forum where only "Pastors" are allowed to start threads (and they will not require moderation) but where all other groups will be able to reply to those threads (however requiring moderation). This seems like it should be simple with vB, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I have found the individual user group permissions, but there doesn't seem to be any language there about not requiring moderation. Please help! ![]() Thanks. |

Edit the forum permissions for the group itself in the admincp
forums & moderators --> forum permissions --> group to edit Follow Forum Moderation Rules If no, posts are always placed into moderation queue |

Hello Snakes,
Thanks for the reply. So you're saying to basically allow posting to the forum without requiring moderation for everyone, but then to force moderation for the unprivileged user groups by specifying that group DOES NOT "follow forum moderation rules"? Is that what you are saying? This is backwards from the way that I was thinking. I was thinking of allowing the privileged groups, this approach seems to be more of restricting the unprivileged groups. This is sort of an "all on or all off" approach, that may work for the most part, but still won't permit me to allow certain groups to post threads without moderation however to require moderation for attachments such as images. I had not mentioned that originally, but that is also a desire of mine. Am I understanding your approach correctly here? Is there a better way of doing this which will allow me more control than "all on or all off"? Thanks! |
