I'm sure there's an easy way to do it, but I can't for the life of me find where to move the user details from above a post to left of the post. Any help would be awesome.

Go to vBulletin options, then same again then Style & Language Settings and then choose to use Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template. That should do it.
